The most striking aspect of the Onyx Big Green Egg is its extraordinary colour – inky black with just a hint of green. But the beauty of this special-edition model is more than skin deep.

The Onyx is the same size and shape as the classic Large EGG, our bestselling model. It is ideal if you’re regularly cooking for four to six people – big enough for family meals and dinner parties but compact enough to work in almost any outdoor space.

Building on 50 years of heritage, the Onyx also offers a glimpse of the future. This is the first model to showcase the game-changing Quick Light Kit, which makes lighting the EGG faster and cleaner and leads to improved heat distribution and control. The Onyx also comes with our new Dual Zone Essentials Kit, which makes it easier than ever to set up and master the EGG’s many cooking modes.

Unlock the modes: the Dual Zone System

The Dual Zone System unlocks the EGG’s unrivalled versatility. It allows you to focus on a single mode – turning your entire EGG into a pizza oven or a low & slow barbecue pit. Or, with equal ease, you can combine more than one. You could, for example, roast a chicken on one side of the Dome, grill flatbreads on the other side, and dirty cook aubergines directly on the coals. A full feast, no fuss.

 

Faster, cleaner ignition: the Quick Light Kit

The game-changing Quick Light Kit consists of a Quick Light Tool and a Stainless Steel Grate. The tool slides into the EGG via the Draft Door, lighting the coals from below, meaning faster ignition, cleaner hands and better heat distribution. The grate’s large, honeycomb-shaped holes reduce hot spots, improve temperature control and allow more ash to fall through, making cleanup easier. Includes a box of Premium Natural Speedilight Sticks.
